Weekly Challenge #97: August 9 to August 16

http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/...3_308a06df.jpg

Hi everybody: How's everyone's summer going? I am SO READY FOR WINTER!!!! Are your temperatures outside "Soarin"? Out here in West Texas, we are on the highest streak of 100 degree weather and above in recorded history. We are also in a water rationing situation. (This part had nothing to do with the challenge. I just want some cheap sympathy!)
  • Have you ever overcome adversity or felt like the "misfit" or known someone who has? Dumbo overcame his and went on to fly too.
    • Have you ever wished you could fly? Me.
    • Do you have pictures that you wish would "fly" onto their own pages and arrange themselves so you'd get more done?
    • Did you know that next month will be the 70th Anniversary of "Dumbo"? And, it was nominated for 2 Academy Awards; winning one.

Here's my VERY FIRST Mousescrappers Weekly Challenge!

  • I was going to do a different challenge this week, but this one just landed or--"landed" in my lap! Several reasons. First of all, as some of you know, I recently reconnected with a dear girlfriend overseas who, at only 40, has overcome more adversity and "soared" higher than most people would do in a lifetime. She could have "crashed" but she didn't. She never gave up. She's one of the bravest people I've ever met, and its an honor just to call myself her friend. I am dedicating this challenge to her.

  • Secondly, Another friend's niece is going to have a baby girl soon and is doing the entire nursery in Dumbo. She paper scraps and asked me to cut out some Dumbo pieces (thank you Reddy's Ramblings) for her to make her a few pages for her baby book. We have been working really hard this week and have made some cute pieces.

So here's the challenge:

1. Create a layout or double page spread of something Disney Related to flight, and/or having to do with overcoming adversity. Or anything that relates to "Soarin High". Heat, Ticket Prices, The airplane ride, etc... lol.

2. No Quick Pages, but Templates are ok.

3. Write a brief explanation of what's going on and why you chose what you did in journaling.

4. This is the biggie: use at least 70 things on your page. Yep that's right. If my friend can overcome adversity, We can all put 70 things on a page. Paper, embellishments, flowers, pictures, borders, frames, etc. It doesn't matter what you use. I'd really rather they be 70 different things, but don't worry. Just try your best. Honor system. I'm not counting. Please just don't put 70 of one thing on there and call it good. Ok? That's not fair or "challenging" to the others. You have a whole week to complete this. :)

5. Use at least 2 pictures, 1 Frame

6. Use something BRAND NEW that you've never used before.

7. Last, but not least, use at least one "misfit" scrapping item you have that "doesn't fit in" with the rest of the elements or designs on the page. It can even be a picture that you took because it looked cool and then you got home and said: Where am I gonna put this picture?

And, as always, have fun and leave some love if you can.

I don't have my example up of my page yet. Also, my wonderful network drive with my entire photo library and content has gone on strike and it has the prize I was going to give. So, I'm working on both. I'll post pics as soon as I can. I promise. Also, I'm having some outpatient stuff done this afternoon, so I might not check my email but a couple of times. I should be good on Thursday. Thanks for playing and for letting me host.

******************AMENDMENT!! added 08/10/11

I'll make it a little more reachable for ya:

1. You can count each letter of your title as an element. You could make a REALLY LONG TITLE.

2. If you use what I call a "monga" template, some of them have a TON of elements/layers. That too counts.

3. If it would help, you can do a two page spread and spread out the elements and count it as one big page.

4. Last: I've made a little Vintage Dumbo sticker and I'll share it with EVERYBODY who leaves me a little note here saying that they'll give it a try. I'll even send it before hand, so you can put it on your page if you like. It's not as awesome as some of the ladies here do, but I think it turned out kinda cute.

A note on the pp: I'll give ya a REALLY NICE prize for your efforts. Its, my glitter borders from the birthday party bag, and I'm feverishly working on some Dumbo bottle caps and buttons. I'll put those in there too. And anything else that Dumbo inspires me to do. Maybe a birthday cake to add to your collection from the blog hop? Humm

Here's the sticker:http://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/...tickerFelt.png

Wow, it's gonna be a hard one. I'm one of those persons who doesn't add much elements to a page. :D But I'll try. Great challenge by the way. :yeah:
