Legoland to be built in Florida? - Confirmed, it's official!

Interesting... There is speculation that Merlin Entertainment (who operates Legoland in California) might build a Legoland in the old Cypress Gardens location. There are a number of articles on this, and it sounds like some additional information might become available in the next few days.

Oh man! That would be completely awesome!

Oh! And I am sooooo passing this on to my brothers. They are both graduating from college this spring and their dream job as kids was to work together at Legoland. Wouldn't that be awesome if that managed to work out for them?! The timing is just too funny.

It's official

It's official. Merlin Entertainment released its plans to build Legoland Florida on the site of the former Cypress Gardens. The reason they chose this location is that it had the existing infrastructure needed for the park, which translates to shaving several years off of the construction timeline. They are targeting the grand opening to be at the end of 2011.

Side note - if anyone has any questions about the Legoland in California, let me know... I've been there more times than I can count. :)

There is now an official Legoland Florida website, though not really any content yet. They'll surely be updating it with progress and news.

It would have been great if it was done by end 2010 when we are going to be in Orlando.

My Grandmother is a Florida resident and she lives kind of close to where this is to be built and the whole area is very excited. That area used to be very popular when Cypress Gardens was there but then it really dwindled away. I was very excited when she told us back in June and so were my kids. They both love Legos.

Legoland Is Coming to Central Florida Very Soon!

Legoland is coming to Central Florida as they get ready to make their home in the place where the old Cypress Gardens used to sit. It is slated to open in October of 2011 and will be located in Winter Haven, FL. The park will feature different themed areas which all embody the look and feel of your favorite LEGO sets. The different themed areas cater to play sets including the medieval knights sets, pirates sets, Technics sets, and even DUPLO's. This park plans to be the ultimate family fun experience in the field of theme parks with plenty of action rides, amazing shows and all the LEGO's anyone could ever imagine!
