For those of you that use Photoshop Elements, I just learned a very important tip.... when you are designing (or even creating layouts), always use a percent reduction of 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% when you are viewing your page. For some reason, if you are creating shapes, etc, you will get jagged edges if you are viewing your page at 23% (like I was doing to see the entire 12x12 layout on the screen), even if you try to smooth an element, it won't work as efficiently.
So now I'm always always viewing my layouts at 25% and then quality checking at 100%. Never knew this before, but it really makes a difference.
