A Dream Sets Sail
This article was in the Disney Fans Insider that I received today..
The darkest days of winter are upon us, and it's a natural time to dream of warm water, bright sun, white sands, and swaying palm trees. Now, those dreams can become a reality in an enchanting new way, on board the newest ship of Disney Cruise Line. Disney Dream embarks on her maiden voyage on January 26 – and, the Insider has discovered, the new ship is aptly named, because she is truly a "dream come true." Disney Dream boasts some features that have never been found on any cruise ship. If you're considering a winter getaway on the warm Caribbean waters, we have all the details to whet your appetite – and you can find all the information you need to make your dream come true at http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/sh...s/ships/dream/! Like the other Disney Cruise Line ships,Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, Disney Dream was designed in the classic style of the golden age of cruising, in the early 20th Century, when a shipboard experience was elegant and luxurious. But that classic look and feel are united with state-of-the-art cruising technology and modern convenience. Passengers will find Disney touches like Magical Portholes, which offer a real-time view of the world outside mixed with whimsical Disney Characters. There are alsointeractive floors in the children's clubs, which allow kids to play and interact with the games and activities there. And perhaps the splashiest new feature is the AquaDuck – the very first water coaster at sea, which allows Guests to swoosh up, down, around, over the edge of the ship, and back before making a splash landing. Other features you'll find only on Disney Dream include a host of new activities for the youngest travelers. Guests at the ship's children's clubs will be able to play, create, and make new friends at four onboard clubs, each specially designed for kids of different ages. Children ages three to ten will find lots to do at Disney's Oceaneer Club and Disney's Oceaneer Lab. Older kids have lounges of their own: Edge for tweens, and Vibe for teenagers. There, they'll find brand-new activities like a comedy open-mike night just for kids, a delightfully spooky ghost-hunt evening (for teen and tweens who can handle a thrill), and Super Sloppy Science experiments. Also, for the first time on board a Disney cruise ship, each club includes access to age-appropriate Disney Online kids' content like Pixie Hollow and Create activities, so kids can play games, create art, and print activities to take with them to their staterooms. While the kids are happily occupied, adults can enjoy the elegance and sophistication of life at sea with dining and amusments just for grown-ups. Perhaps a dip in the Quiet Cove Pool and Bar, followed by couples treatments at Senses Spa and Salon. Adults will also enjoy fine dining at Palo (specializing in Northern Italian cuisine) and Remy ( offering French culinary delights). With so much to do, how to choose? Disney Cruise Line Creative Director David Duffy recommends, "It's so hard to decide on just one thing with so much new to do! Families are going to love Goofy's Sports Deck and the new game shows in D Lounge. Adults are going to have the ultimate night club experience in Evolution and the tweens are going to love the new Edge!" Maureen Landry, the ship's entertainment director, adds, "Visit disneycruise.com to help you plan your adventure." That way you don't need to waste a minute. Of course, there's more to a cruise than the fun on the ship – and Disney Dream will bring Guests to the island of Nassau in The Bahamas, and to Disney's own private island, Castaway Cay. On shore, Guests can choose from Port Adventures like stingray interactions, glass-bottom boat tours, parasailing, fishing, jet-ski tours and offshore snorkeling. Or they can simply spread a towel on the sand, apply sunscreen, and relax. Castaway Cay even has brand-new cabanas to rent, for that extra touch of tropical luxury. A cruise on Disney Dream has so many features to talk about, but there is one above all that makes the ship live up to its name. David says, "There is nowhere else in the world that Guests can be so completely immersed in the magic of Disney storytelling and service. It is truly the cruise that all of our Guests will feel was created especially for them." The maiden voyage of Disney Dream is booking up quickly, but her future sailings still have space available – if you want to take the plunge that will make your cruising dreams come true.
