Hosts in the new year!

We really need some hosts for the weekly challenge in the new year. We have no weekly challenge hosts after December is over Please help continue to make MouseScrappers a great place by offering to host a challenge. If we don't have hosts for the challenge the weekly challenge may be the not so weekly challenge, and that would be sad! Go sign up here http://www.mousescrappers.com/forums...ead.php?t=5631

I would love to host again in the new year. I'd love to do and would love to do so again.
But... first I'm a bit out of what kind of challenge to do... Making a PP isn't a big problem, it's more about what to do. And second, I feel there are not that many participants. Not sure why... Is the challenge too hard, isn't it the right time of the year (busy months so at the end of the year, I know) or aren't the prizes appealing enough?
So... for me the last few times it was a bit disappointing to host a challenge...

I think this time of year - from the end of November to the New Year - is just so busy for a lot of people, me included. I certainly haven't been participating in as many of the challenges as I've wanted to! Perhaps it would be better to do a monthly challenge for December, or perhaps something like a 4-part challenge with mini participation prizes for completing each round?

And back to the actual topic - I wouldn't mind hosting, but I don't have any prizes to offer!

I kind of agree with both Marieke & Lauren, it's been hard to host. I appreciate all the individuals who do participate when I host, but maybe it's time to think of alternatives to the challenges? I like the idea of maybe doing something that coordinates - I can't offer a pp myself, and I feel like if I host too many times and ask the same couple designers for something I'm taking advantage of them

Could we maybe create a thread where people can offer and ask for pps? Might make it simpler for hosts that don't design.

I will go and sign up for something, but I have cookie season (I'm the cookie mom for my Girl Scout Troop) coming up in early January, so it might not be much in the first couple months

This time of year is historically slow on the site, but in general things have been a bit quiet lately. I'm looking for ideas to kick things up a bit in the new year and am open to suggestions. I personally would love to have a community-type challenge where participants make a goal... one book in particular that they'd like to finish. For me, it would be my honeymoon. I did it back in the day by cutting up maps and such (using a sticky photo album). I want to change it to a digital book, but I am having trouble (perhaps I am not pleased because I feel as though it has to be perfect since it was my honeymoon). But that would be my goal for 2014 (and for the upcoming marathon, which might be early Feb). If anyone would be willing to coordinate a year-long challenge like that it would be great, though I know it is a lot to ask. And for challenge I mean just something to hold people accountable - state progress toward the goal - more like a lengthy discussion thread. No prizes - just aim to try to help people get one book done. Sorry I'm rambling

It would also be nice to have some activities with chats in them (either just chats or speed scraps)

There is an existing thread here: http://mousescrappers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4583

It kind of got lost when I changed the challenge forum around a bit (I did it to make them easier to find on homepage)

I love the challenges here at MS! I feel like things have been a little slow here lately, not sure why. I know, I personally go through seasons where I really scrap a lot, and then there are times that I do not do anything. Perhaps that is what is going on. Honestly, the prizes are nice, but I sometimes do the challenges and then forget to download the prize. I do the challenges because they help keep me accountable and make me do a page, at least once a week. I do like the idea of a long term goal type challenge, and I know this is a Disney site, but perhaps it would be allowed that the goal not have to be Disney related.
So lets not let the challenges disappear! They are the heart of this site. I would not mind hosting but do not have a designing bone in my body. Perhaps a gift certificate to a designer's store to the best LO of the challenge? I am willing to do what it takes to help keep us scrapping here at MS.

I am looking forward to the weekend long event coming soon. Do you have enough hosts for that event? I do like the events with the chat. Maybe a monthly speed scrap? I enjoy the sites that have those - except that they want you to use their products, and I don't always have some recent ones. That's what I love so much about this site, I can use any designer I LOVE speed scraps.

I don't want the challenges to disappear either.

And I completely understand how hostesses feel down when there is little participation. It's definitely a bummer when you come up with a challenge and a prize and there aren't many participants. I want to host and make prizes but I'm not a designer either. And the few things I can make take me hours which is frustrating because I know there is an easier way to do it. But I just don't know how, or even what the techie word for what I want do is, so I can't even google!

Like Arlette said, I tend to go in spurts too. I'll do 3 pages a week for 3 weeks and then I won't do anything for 3 weeks. My tenancy to do that has been exacerbated by a bad carpal tunnel flare up that began in mid October and lasted until Mid December that pretty much left me unable to scrap or really even use the computer for non necessary work stuff during that time.

A 'Get a Book Done in 2014' challenge would be great. I really need to finish our 2012 cruise album before we go on another cruise in October I know I have enough time to get it completed, but I always seem to put it off throughout the year and scramble at the end. Would be nice to get some motivation to consistently work on it.

It seems like a lot of our long time members that did challenges week in and week out are now on a lot of creative teams and are busy doing CT pages. And with the mid week timing of the challenges it seems difficult to create a page that also works for the challenges, since most new products are released on Friday - too late for them to get 'credit' for the challenge.

Perhaps timing the challenges to correspond to when a CT LO is due might be a great change. That would allow the CT member to participate in a challenge AND promote their products.
