How To Use A PNG File
Those of you that are new to digi-scrapping probably see all these AWESOME Disney inspired kits that designers sell and say "I have to have that!!" I know I did! Then when I got my hands on my first one, I had no idea what to do with it! haha. So here is a quick rundown on what to do with those PNG elements that come in the kits, because it is super easy!
For this tutorial I am gonna go ahead and use my LO from my Template Tutorial: See the red arrow pointing to the picture? Let me show you how I got it there. First thing you want to do it open up the arrow is your choice of program. I used PSE 8. To open the element I can do one of 2 things. Either go to File>Open and then search for the file containing the element, or what I usually do is have the file with the element open and then just drag it to my PSE icon and drop it. This will automatically open the element in my program. One the element is open, I usually minimize it so that it is in my Project Bin across the bottom. You can open as many elements as you like and keep them in the Project Bin for easy access. Once the element is in my Project Bin, I choose which layer I want the arrow above: For this example I wanted to make sure I placed the arrow above the Magical Moment Word Art but below the cluster of flowers so that the flowers would show on top of the arrow. Once you have the arrow on your LO, you will then move and resize it to fit your needs. Click any of the little boxes around the element to rotate and resize it. In PSE hold down the SHIFT button while doing your rotating and resizing so that you do not distort the element. Viola! You have placed an element on your LO!! Once I have done that, I add a drop shadow (I use Get Real - Realistic Drop Shadow Styles by Jennifer Barrette) and the placing of my element is complete! |
