How do you do shaped text boxes

Getting the hang of photoshop but want to know how to do shaped text boxes.

When I click on text I know to drag a square/rectangle and the text will stay in that but say you have an element or something else hanging over the text box and you want your text to go round it.

I have seen the dotted lines in non square format on templates that I have used but just don't know how to do it.
