We are a family of 4, BUT, we live in the UK so we can't just pop down to Disneyworld for the weekend.
We try and visit for at least 2 weeks every other year, and use at least 2 years worth of points per trip. I try and borrow everything when we make a trip so that if we can't get back 2 years later I'm not having to rent out points, and if we want to go back sooner we can always borrow the next years points. We have 171 points at the Boardwalk. We like to stay in a 1 bedroom but have stayed in a studio and were quite happy with that. Last trip we had nearly 3 years worth of points to spend so we booked a cruise on points. We are now really liking the cruises, so we've booked one for next year and are going to have to stay in studios and maybe even *gasp* off-site for a few nights. There are people that argue it's better to book the cruise with cash and rent out the points instead, but I didn't want to get into renting and I love that we can cruise for 'free', I would find it hard to justify that cost for 3 nights otherwise. I would recommend buying resale, you can save a lot of $$$ and you can choose any of the resorts. We really wanted the Boardwalk so resale was our only option. |
