Picture/File Storage

I was just wondering where everyone stores photos, layouts, and kits. There are a few threads about it here but most of them are a few years old. I am specifically trying to choose between EHD (external hard drive) - My Personal Cloud Storage vs Portable or an Online storage hosting site. I need a place to "work" from as I have an EHD that I plug in and back-up my laptop files. I also want to burn my files to some CD/DVD's..... any recommendations on which type to use?

Thanks!

I use an external hard drive (wd my passport) that I plug in when I want to scrap...BUT this weekend it started having issues (I think the cord) and that meant that I didn't have access to any of my stuff...but none of the other options are as flexible for my needs including offline access
Ive met another MouseScrapper Beware of Hitchhiking Ghosts!

I keep hearing about failures of external hard drives so I bought one of these cabinets and two 1.5 TB drives.

The drives are redundant so if one fails we should be able to retrieve the files from the other drive. (We don't use the Cloud feature) We put it on the home network so we can each access it from our computers. One issue doing this, though, is that for some reason I can't see previews of the .png files (and seems to be 50/50 on the .jpg). So it was a bit of a hassle when I would search for 'button' in my digiscrap products and I just got a list of file names and can't see what each one looks like unless I open it. I ended up copying some folders down to my laptop just for the marathon

Thanks for your input ladies! Murmer you comment really turned on a light bulb for me. I sometimes enjoy scrapping at my mom's house and she has TERRIBLE internet. I think I would prefer the portable HD instead of a cloud based system. Carol that stinks on the previews - I would certainly struggle with that.

I ended up purchasing the WD My Passport Ultra 2TB Portable External Hard Drive and a case for it which I plan to use as my scrapbook "work from" drive. I already have the Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 1 TB as my laptop backup. I am also going to give BackBlaze a try starting next month mostly so that I have my photographs of my DD stored in an offsite location.

If anyone else runs across this thread would like to make a post please add your two cents It may help someone else who is looking in the future

It would be great to know where to store all of my scrap stuff! My husband bought a 1TB hard drive to back my stuff up, but I think it's corrupt. It says there isn't enough space to back up my files...which is interesting considering my computer only has 1 TB of memory and it's not full. Plus, it says not to delete anything off the hard drive because it could destroy the other data. I so wish I knew more about computers!
