Carolwood Pacific Railroad / Walt's Barn

The Carolwood Pacific Railroad was the name that Walt Disney gave to the railroad he built in the backyard of his home (on Carolwood Drive) in Holmby Hills. He had a huge passion for trains, as can be seen by the presence in the Disney theme parks.

Today, the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society is dedicated to preserving Walt Disney's Railroad legacy. Though the house has been sold, the special barn where Walt controlled this railway was preserved and is now located in Griffith Park - it seems to be open to the public once a month.

Of course I love the "Carolwood" name. Oh how I wish I could have seen this setup in his yard.

I love this place! I posted a 2-page LO over here if you want to see it. The train is open every Sunday afternoon for a couple of hours, and it is FREE! Yes, it is the only Disney attraction in the world that doesn't cost a cent to ride.

The barn is only open on the 3rd Sunday of the month, and it's worth the visit.
