The work is easier than I thought it'd be. In my area, there are options for volunteering at the local marathon or beach cleanup (among many others). I heard there were so many people logged into this site on the first that it significantly slowed the system. Just need to get in before the millionth person, I guess.

We're gonna do this - I guess I should check it out before the spots are all gone! This should be a great thing for the kids for their scouting projects, too.

Just saw an update on this. Apparently the number is up to 600,000 already after just 6 weeks into the year.

Is anyone else having trouble finding a (scheduled) event near them? I'm not sure if they are harder to find in my area because I'm within driving distance to Disneyland.

I just checked the list and there are tons available in my area. The only problem is finding a group that will take a 9 & 11 year old. I found one but it's on a school night, which isn't optimal but may work. We'll see!

I posted this message in another thread but I just found this one and thought it would be appropriate. I hope this helps someone.

Since someone mentioned give a day get a day I though I would let everyone know some info I received on the program. My agency was supposed to be one of the Volunteer agencies but things changed (at the federal level - way over my pay grade) but I had read all the fine print about the program because I was going to be in charge of all Disney correspondence. Anyway, just so you are aware, you do not have to use it for just one day's ticket! When you exchange your voucher for a ticket you can ask to apply it to Day 1 of a multi day ticket. The value currently is $71.10 - so if you are planning to buy a seven day ticket at $219.00, instead you can exchange your voucher and purchase your 7 day ticket for $147.90! Also you have to use your voucher by Dec 15th (but not the exchanged tickets, you can still buy the no expiration). They only have a set number and may run out before the year is out. If you have a season pass you can still use give a day get a day and exchange one voucher for dream fast passes for your entire group (up to 8 I think).

I hope I am not being redundant - sorry if everyone already new this, if not I hope you find it helpful!
