PSE Action for removing white background for coloring pages
 

Several of us were on the chat for the Coloring Pages with Denise the other night and the action she provided wasn't working for some of us with PSE. I found a freebie action that works in PSE to remove the white background from our coloring pages!!! I copied and pasted the directions into a word document so I could follow the directions to prep the page prior to running the action. It works terrific.

Make sure to save the action in your approriate file location for me with PSE 9 it's...

C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\9.0\Locale\en_us\Workflow Panels\actions

I was just messing around with Denise's and it wasnt working..... thought it was just me LOL. Glad its not. I have to take the baby to PT and will get to playing when I get home this afternoon! Yay!

Amanda did you prepare it before you ran the action?

After you have loaded the action set file, open up the image that has a white background you want to remove.

Make sure the layer is named "Background" and that it is selected. The color mode must be set to RGB.

Change your Foreground color to the color you want the output to be

can someone help me install the action in PSE 8 - I tried but was not successful? I have never succeeded in installing any actions :eek: it is something I would love to know how to do. :thanks:

I'll try it again doing this. I have about 50 actions loaded in PSE8 and this is the only one that doesnt work. But maybe its just something im doing ;)

I need :help:...When I use the magic wand and delete the white, the background is turns black....:confused: What am I doing wrong???

If anyone is having problems installing actions in PSE 8, these instructions are what helped me when I started using actions:

Tips: My "Program Data" folder was hidden so I had to unhide it. My files for Vista on my laptop had to go in a different location than the actions folder some are using. Also, make sure your background is labeled as "background".
